Hi. For about the last week I have been running into a space problem. I have partition of 24gb for vista x64 sp2 and need some help. I have downloaded some games and downloaded them to a larger partition. But when I unrar they fail to and the partition with the os (c) ends up with no space left. Whats going on?

edit: no virus, this has happened before so I reformatted and it still does this.

This is so annoying. I need help badly, really restricting what I am doing.

what's the error you get?
where are you extracting them to?

How much free space is on the Vista partition?

Most archival programs extract files to temporary space (which is usually on the system partition) and then move them to wherever they're going. Sounds to me like that's what's happening here.

From the big partition to the games folder in the partition. But I havent done that yet. I actually cant even move folders because of this.

I have 600mb when i had 6gb

Sounds about right. Any solutions?

What program are you using, and what method? This is usually what happens if you drag/drop from the application, but using the Extract dialog will normally extract directly to the destination without the temporary files.

Just so you know, you can usually get about 2gb of free space back by turning off the backup and restore.

I know some people have a problem with this, but others, like me, never use it (i always clean install when something goes wrong), so why have it using space if you don't use it.
