So this is my first SLI build, had it for a couple months now.

Got a pair of gtx 460s

Now because of my case the cards have to sit right next to each other.
tj09 has a peice of metal between the baord and psu preventing a 2 slot sized card to be placed in the 3rd pci slot

But anyways, this is the weird thing.

Both cards idle at 30s - low 40s
but gpu1 loads 70 - 80
and gpu2 will load in the 40s maybe 50s

it says my sli is enabled but im not understanding why gpu2 isnt running hot

the high temps on gpu1 dont really worry me because my old pc had a single 8800GTS and it loaded in the high 80s.

Is this normal for sli or is something not right?

my upper GTX 460 runs hotter by about 10 deg C. par for the course.

to explain it better, your top card is always going to run hotter because you have your montior pluged in to it so its the master card. it cant downclock to say as low as the slave card can.

to fix your problem take 1 or 2 120mm fans put 1 blowing air in on the back and put 1 on the side and your temps will be so cool you can even lower your fan speed. its what i did when i got my first sli setup. and am running 2 470's which in my mind am running a nuke clear power planet. only if 470 should make power i would have extra cash in my pocket lol

if you need picture i will give you one of mine.
