Currently writing this from my new Asus G71V-Q1.

This bad boy has a QX9300. 45nm Mobile QUAD!!!!

It's currently OC'd to 2.8 (using built in Direct Console) and temps are good. I'm running a VMWare Server instance of notfred's. Only running one instance (locked to cores 0 & 1) and I have an instance of WinXP running locked to cores 2 & 3. I'll kickoff the other instance when I'm done configuring the WinXP instance (to be used for work).

I'm getting 5:30 frame times. I am processing a 2669 WU worth 1920. FaHSpy has this instance at nearly 4800 PpD. Is this even possible? My Q6600 @ 3.6 can barely get 3000 PpD. It's BEST frame times is 9:30 :confused: :confused:


It's got an nVidia 9700M GT which I'll try folding on tomorrow. Too tired to do anything else tonight.
 
Check that your clock inside the VM is running at the right speed.
If its running slow then that will inflate your apparent PpD.

Seems like an optimistic frame time even if you were running on all four cores, but two cores cannot usually process a P2669 that fast from my experience. I have never seen SMP times under 10 minutes utilizing only two cores. I have a system with Penryn processors running @2.8GHz and the best times I've seen with A2 WUs is about 12 min a frame, perhaps a bit less but I don't have my clients currently monitored, so it's a rough calculation. Not saying it's impossible, but with our very similar setups (XP host, 2.8GHz Penryn, 2 cores per client, etc) I would expect relatively similar times. Maybe you should check the clock like Tiger mentioned. Did you try timing the frames manually?

Another possibility is a new P2669 variant that has just been released in the wild. <shrug>

 
noob mistake and the fact that it was 1:30 in the morning. It was doing the bunching of the frames (several frames post at the same time). I could have sworn they were different times, but I was tired and I'm getting old :)

After it settled in, frame times are 11:30 or so. Still getting approximately 5k PpD which I am ok with. Not sure how well this GPU will fare, but I'll check it out sometime today or tomorrow.
