Weird question

Anyone know if F@H is HEPA certified? I have a Dr.s office that has pretty muich agreed to let me borg them (about 60 PCs) but they are worried about HEPA regulations (the new guidelines about data integrity and consumer protection). A link to anyone at Stanford talking about this would be wonderful.

My guess is no, post on the offical forums and let us know.

My google search turned up vacum cleaners...

They are actually asking about HIPAA certification..... I'm a pharmacist, and HIPAA regulations are driving health professionals crazy !

HIPAA= Health Information Portability & Accountability Act

Since FAH deals with no patient info, they are most likely concerned about allowing unintended backdoors into their system that contains confidential info covered by federal HIPAA regulations.

This response is not intended to answer your question, but to point out what their concerns probably are. If they install a program, they want to know who to point a legal finger at if that program allows a leak of confidential information or a backdoor to the same.

Good luck if you want to borg them, I figure it's an uphill battle.

Thanks for teh fix on the name of it. That is why I am a computer tech and not a healthcare professional. I have read teh regs and they are just silly. They are more worried about what information id actually being sent rather than backdoor issues (hell I can telnet to their servers right now and get anything I want). They are actually pretty excited about the use of their PCs being used to help cure diseases especially as most of the Doctor's PCs are on all the time and teh Dr's are never actually at them (they do a LOT of outpatient/hospital work)

AACHH ! If you can telnet into patient records, they are already so out of compliance , you can prolly do whatever you want !!! Please do not tell me any more.

Hehe well I know how to get into the system is all (I DID set it up :) They are fully compliant with strong passwords, and you have to go thru about 8 lvls of passwords to get to any patient data. Like I said they are more just worried about what is actually being sent out from their machines.

Oh yeah.... then borg them up !! I can say that since you are in tier 1 & I'm only in tier 2

I hope to hell you don't really mean telnet. Telnet is so fundamentally insecure it's insane. Anyone sniffing you immediately has your password and username, and anything that's sent over the wire. Switch to ssh now. I'm not kidding.

NO I don't really mean telnet. Sorry that is left over from the days of when I had to deal with serial networks on a regular basis. Mostly I use Terminal Services now simply because I can do whatever just like I was standing there without having to just go and add a printer etc.

Nah I have TS locked down pretty tightly and like I said you need about 8-10 passwords (all strong passwords) just to get to patient data so the chances they could get hacked before someone noticed is pretty slim (I have their firewall e-mail and page me if it gets much more than a casual ping)

Yay more computers for the team! Make sure to tell them that science thanks them. Or maybe not that sounds a little cheesy. I still like the sounds of it. :D

You've clearly not been exposed to the ravages of unsafe borging!

Hehe ok just thought it was a strange question because it reallyu had nothing to do with folding and more to do with annoying government regulations (and yes I meant HIPAA not HEPA :p )

I'm developing a bad case of poster's elbow.
