{weird question} laptop as monitor?

i have laptop.

and im getting desktop.

would it be possible for me to connect laptop to desktop and...then.....when i am watching a movie in my desktop it will simoultaneously "show" in my laptop? as if my laptop was a second monitor?

i know laptops can connect to regular monitors for display purposes....but can desktops connect to laptops for this same purpose?

if so, what would i need to do.?
 
Well the real answer is "no" but I do know there are software solutions that can use ethernet to connect two machines displays but I don't think the response would be acceptable for video to work.
 
i beleive a peice of software called maxivista will do this for you. it allows multiple networked devices to use each others monitors as an extended desktop. Sorry i dont have a link, but it should come up top in google etc...
