So it first started with weird corruption while playing wow. usually didn't happen unless i had been playing for a long time. restarting fixed but this often causes my screen to go to 640x480 16bit. so a restart was required and kind of annoying. then a day or 2 ago my computer shut down seemingly out of nowhere. a bit freaked i opened up my hardware monitor and discovered that my GPU temp was not even listed anymore. the rest of the temps seemed fine so i put it off as a weird fluke and ignored it. Now the screen corruption issues while playing wow happen much more frequently and today my computer was shutting down constantly. i monitored my temps for a bit and my CPU was heating up to 60c - my shutdown temp. Now, this is really weird because usually my max load temp is 50-52c. Where could this sudden jump have come from?

My GPU is not OC'd and it doesn't look like usual screen artifacts. after awhile some of the textures turn black, and if i don't restart when i notice this shortly afterwards the terrain all turns blue and my fps drops to 2-3. closing the game usually results in it going to 640x480 16bit. i suspect my fans could be better (the fans that come with the case are shit) so i ordered a couple 120mm's from zipzoom today. just really weirded out by the sudden increase in temps... where could it have come from? and it doesn't seem like the cpu could be casuing the screen corruption... if it was erroring it would crash and i'd get the "windows reciovered from serious error" thingie.

CPU is 1.8ghz venice OC'd to 2.6.
 
omf... i just ran prime95 using in place FFT's and my cpu went from 47c (usually idles at 38)to 58c in under 10 seconds.
 
Have you toyed with removing or lowering your OC to see how things are handled?
