Hello.

My case came with built in audio jacks for headphones, mics etc... (on the top) so I could easily get at them. It also had 3 choices of leads on the cable coming from them inside the case, HD Audio, AC97 and Azalia. I plugged the HD Audio into the F_AUDIO on my motherboard.

In Vista I goto Sound in control panel and it says speakers plugged in (motherboard), Headphones not plugged in (case) and something else. I plug the headphones into the top of my case and then they all disappear and I cannot play any sounds, even through the motherboard's jacks anymore until I reboot. The Sounds dialouge box from control panel will say no audio devices are installed, but they will come back when I reboot.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I've done some digging but have not been able to unearth much. When you say that after a reboot it comes back, do you leave it all connected as at the time it all went tits? Or do you remove any of the connections and then reboot? Is your MB BIOS up to date?

Do your pin assignments match as on page 29 here? http://europe.giga-byte.com/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_ga-p35c-ds3r_e.pdf

I note that your MB appears not to support auto-detection on the jacks at the back - is it all connected as it should be? Sorry of these sounds like noobish questions, just trying to bottom it out & in doing so assuming nothing!!

Are the leads on your case markedly different? They haven't been mislabeled? Does your connector pin config match that in the MB manual (page 7)?

EDIT: READ THIS FIRST - Actually, just read that the CODEC on your MB is Azalia - try that connector!:) (page 42)

Nevermind, went to the Gigabyte site, went to my motherboard then the drivers page then I clicked a link to take me to a device driver recommendation site that Gigabyte recommended, said my audio drivers were out of date so I updated them and now all is fixed! :)
