weird problem, can't install a video driver

I had 290x running, removed the driver with DDU 15.7.5.3 and pulled it out,,
installed a 7970 and i get video ok with the standard vga adapter driver,
trying to install AMD Catalyst, it doesn't detect the card and won't install a driver,
manually installing a driver it says the card was detected but there was an error, and that's it.
there are no errors in the event viewer, already reinstalled the card,

I'm thinking the DDU messed something up as the 15.7.5.3 is gone and can't be downloaded anymore and there is a new version for download but running it doesn't fix the issue.
 
figured out what the problem was, it wasn't a 79xx series card, it was 69xx card, duhhh
