Well, for a week I had no problems after the new power supply. You might remember the Turn On Stove, PC turns off thread. Several people urged me to get my power lines checked out. I got a new power supply and thought that all was well.

All was fine until... Sparks shot out of my LCD monitor

If the people in these threads advise you to get your power lines checked out, do it. I have since disconnected my whole rig until I can get it all checked. Something is obviously very wrong with my electrical lines!

LOL! You'll have to use your imagination - it was a one time only event.

Seriously, a large blue spark shot out of the top of my LCD. It is now dead.

I guess that the bright side of all of this, once I get the power problem sorted out, I have an excellent excuse to start shopping for a new display.

It was a fairly large electrical spark, too. It probably would have made a good pic!

You didn't have a surge protector? I have one that provents overvoltage and undervoltage.

Ouch, sorry to hear this but I knew there is something fishy with your electrical wiring.

theres a limit to the voltage that a surge strip will let through, and that limit is sometimes higher than what it takes to damage the devices connected to it, hense why it is soo much better to have a UPS with AVR!

I had a monitor do that before, it made real loud fizzing noises and blue sparks shot out the top, it was a crt though seems odd to happen from an lcd.
