weird overclocking problem w/ 6800 GT

my GT( see rig 1 in sig) works fine in americas army at 420/1.13 and 418/1.12 in doom 3. in farcry\3dmark, however, it only runs stable at about 380/1.0. otherwise, it just freezes up at certain pints, than resums after about 15 seconds. the other games experience this two, but only once every 30 mins or so. my temps are grate(it never tops 75 in that demo everyone uses, cant remember the acronim). i have NEVER seen artifacts in anything but doom 3, and then only at about 430(just playing around w/ the card).now, it didnt seem to do this when i first got it(in 3dmark, i just got farcry). im reinstalling windows when i finish dling sp2(tomorow or so). ill see if that helps. but has anyone else had this problem? could i have a bad card? im running 3dmark 03 v. 340 and farcry 1.2 w/ sm3 enabled

btw, i just ran rthdribl, and it moved around 66c, maxing at 68c. but i looked at the clocks(useing leadteks hw moniter, gives you clocks and temps in real time) and it said it was in 2d mode. so im guessing that even those temps are a bit high, as the fan was in low(2d) mode as aposed to high(3d) mode
 
ok, i figured part of it out. its my memory. it all runs fine w/ my mem @ stock, but anything above screws it. its fine in D3 and AA, but in 3dmark and Far cry its realy bad. why is my mem screwing me up? its not artifacting. and its running cool enough.
 
THANK YOU! it must have acedentaly ben enabled when i flashed my mobo bios, but now it works wonderfully! i just overclocked my cpu to 2.3 and ran it at 416/1.1 and goet a score of 12k, W/ prime in the backround. cant wait to see how far i can get the mem now(the stutering was the limiting factor, and my core tops out at 420)
 
Wow...I had mine up to 435/1150 with this shit enabled. Never knew that. I thought those random puases in Far Cry were normal. Gonna go bench the game...see what happens.
 
About the fast writes.. Should that be disabled for both ATI and Nvidia cards of this and the previous gens? I just wondering what you guys think. I'll try it out meself and post results.
 
it does this for me when i clock it too high, and that pause is it down clocking (past stock) so you get much better perf when you just clokc it down a bit. mines at 390/ 1050 without any pauses
 
but i never get artifacts.. anywhay, i playd some more, and after about 2 hrs of gameplay i got 2 quick ones in farcry, non in 3dmark, AA, or doom 3.
