Ok, first off not sure if this post belongs here, but I couldn't really find a better match.
First off, system setup:
Gigabyte Aurora Case
Complete Watercooling setup, Storm, D5, Thermochill 120.2, Maze 4
PC Power & Cooling 510 SLI-PFC
Abit IC7-G
P4 2.8
2x 1Gig PQI crap ram (was going to replace)
120GB WD IDE Hard Drive
BenQ 1655 DVD Drive
EVGA 6800GT
SB X-FI Music
Backstory (skip if boring):
Ok, I have wanted to get into watercooling and overclocking for a long period of time. I have always been to nervous and invested to much to do it. I have had the above setup minus a few of the newer components (burner, sound card) for about a year and a half. So I figured hey, might as well grab a new case, good power supply and a watercooling system that will work on the current high end setups. I was looking to upgrade after tax season. I figured I could work out the kinks in my OC methods and maybe boost the performance on my current rig. I installed the WC components perfectly and tested for 2 or 3 days for leaks. Setup the system, got it up and running, did a few tests and found out my ram sucks for overclocking and got my graphics card up to about 430/1100(from 350/1000) and was pleasantly supprised in that department. Set everything back to stock for a bit, since I wanted to Ghost my newly installed system in case of corruption from OC'ing.
Problem:
This morning b4 work I was doing misc. crap before work and got up to leave. As you may or may not know, the Aurora has a solid metal door. I shocked myself on the door (static) and didnt think anything of it until I saw the system shut down. I have shocked myself numerous times on my previous cases without any problems in the past. I have never lost a component to static and always make sure im grounding myself constantly when working on delicate components.
Now I'm pissed and at work, because I had to leave right away after it happened. I did try to shut it off and reboot, but nothing. No beeps, the power and HD light come on and stay lit. I guess I don't really need any troubleshooting help, im just confused how this could happen. Arent cases grounded for this reason?
