Weird, not well thought out question

I'm considering selling my p4, and celly machines (parting out of course)
Just wanted to think I these could scrape up enough cash to build another low budget folding which will out produce the P4 and Celly combined.

P4 3.4HT Coolermaster HSF, 2gigs DDR2 400, 36gig raptor ECS Mobo, 350Watt Antec PSU

Celly 2.8, 1 gig shielded Gskill or Geil or something DDR 400. No drive, FoxConn mobo. Generic PSU about 350-380

These all that parted out could snag me a build that will out produce both of those combined?

You betcha, a simple box with a good E1200 and a 8800GS will rape them into oblivion, depending how much you will get from them.

oh snap, didn't even think about building a box just to run a 88... now that would be a nice point per price ratio. Hmmmm

Any specific processors to avoid when running that 88 strictly for folding? As in will the 1200 be a bottle neck, or maybe a AMD BE?

Or hell, what about an old X2

Honestly, any C2D or AMD X2 BE will do ;)

I'm going to be running 3 GPU cores off of a OC-ed E2140

I'll let ya know how it goes in a couple days. I have a 8800GS in it now, and a 9800GX2 should be here Wednesday. (the best part it is still have more more PCIe lane after that :D)

As far as just running one card the 2140 does fine. And I got it for under 40 shipped off Ebay.

I'd think parting out, you might get less than selling as a whole working computer. When the parts are "old" like yours they're a lot harder to sell.

Yep, figured parting out would be the easiest quickets way to sell em.

And thanks for the info Xil and Ken.

e2180 to 3.4++ Ghz $70+
8800GT ------------ $130
2x1Gb ddr2 800 - $50
P35 mobo --------- $100
HD, DVD, PSU, case, etc --- ??

5000+ PPD easy

You could even add in a 2nd 8800GT if you're a hardcore folder, and have a 10,000PPD machine

9600gt, celeron 430, antec ea380, ib9

hey gwarren007 ---

how do you take a screen shot of your desktop?

Thanks.

print screen

Then paste into Word or MSPaint

Almost forgot: Nice theme :)

My print screen button does not do anything.

Try CTRL+Print Screen for full desktop, or ALT+Print Screen for just the focused app. Run mspaint and paste.

got it! Thanks!

I thought that the print screen button was obsolete... from the olden days... back in the 80's.

and how would he put the socket 478 processor on there???
Unless his 3.4 is a 775

Don't know the model off hand. But it only supports DDR 333/400 :(
Server me very well these past few years though.
