For quite sometime now ive been having minor difficulties with my internet connection. It would just not work sometime and it would easily be fixable, i would switch around the ethernet cable that went from my router to my modem, and i would unplug the cable connection going into my modem, and then i would put it all together again, reboot and I would be fine...

Most recently it did this but wont allow me to go on the internet on my main computer. I have my my main computer and a laptop, I run the laptop wirelessly with a microsoft wireless router, and my main computer is also connected to that router...Ive never really had problems with anything installation of it went smooth back about a year or two ago when i first set it up, now ive reinstalled the software a few times because i have formated and reinstalled windows, but anyway the weird thing about this that i have no problem connecting to the internet on my laptop, it finds the signal and runs fine like any other time. But for some reason I can't sign on AIM or go to any website on my main computer. But I can play CounterStrike online on my main computer, and connect to Ares as well, but cant go on AIM or browse the internet. When i open up the Microsoft Broadband Network utility it says i am not connected to the internet, but when I go to My network places ( or wherever it is that shows you the active connections) it has the Internet Connection icon, and it says that I am connected to the internet.

I dno whats happenin, the only two things I can currently think of is that possibly one of the ethernet cables, either the one that runs from router to modem, or the one that runs from modem to computer, is busted or warn out or just plain doesnt work anymore. 2nd i would say I might need a new ethernet card.

I'm not sure but If anyone has any other suggestions I would like to try to solve this as soon as possible.

go the cheap route and get a new Ethernet Card.

that doesn't work,possible problem is with the modem signal

i've had issue's like this and it came down to problems with my signal of the cable modem line

the cable from the wall to the back of modem,the signal went from 12 hertz and by the time it got to the back of the modem it was -5 hertz}

so,the cable guys came and redid the line.so far,no issues.
