Weird Mouse and sound card problem

Hey guys, this is a problem that my friend has, he wants me to post this

"Hey guys,
Well i got a new mouse a couple of weeks ago and all working fine ( plugged into usb port ), but just the otha day i got myself a sound card to go with my speakers im getting... installed it and the drivers. Restarted the computer, came to the login screen, moved the mouse to go click on my name and it restarted

so i thought it was the mouse, unplugged the mouse fromthe usb port and plugged it into the normall mouse 1(the oldschool adaptor to plug the mice in)... tried that and it worked <_<... logged on and it said that " windows has recovered from a critical error " , didnt know wat was wrong so i went to change the mouse sensitivty in game and in contol panel in it didnt let me.

would any1 be able to help me find out why my computer restarts when i have my mx510 mouse in the usb port. ( only started happening when i got the sound card ) and why when i change it to the normall 1 it wont let me change the mouse sensitivity...

So when i have the mouse in the usb ports the comp restarts, and when i play games or even on the dektop with the other adaptor the sensitivity is WAY to much, and i cant change it any slower"
