So with Fermi coming, I decided to upgrade from my phenom 2 940, to the i7 920.

Now on my phenom system, I had no microstutter, and was totally happy with my dual GTX 260 core 216's. Yet on my new i7 system, which I clocked stable at 4.1ghz for 12 hours with Prime95, I now have a weird microstutter in Call of Duty 2/4/WaW. The microstutter starts at beginning of map for maybe 45 seconds to a minute, and then goes away, though I have seen it pop back up later in the map once.

I have tried everything I can think of except lowering my FPS with vsync, as I game at 125 fps, which gives some benefits in the COD engine, not to mention the whole purpose in getting the i7 was to stay that high with Fermi at a resolution of 5760x1200. On a positive note though, my minimum fps from my phenom to my i7 have increased heavily.

Things I've tried:

stock settings
bumped some voltages up
HT on and Off
Lowering memory and uncore frequency
changing pre rendered frames (0,1,2,3)
AA on off
AFR1, AFR2, Nvidia Rec...

Well, I had a similar thing in CoD4 which was fixed by enabling "dual cards" in the settings, despite having only one GPU, but presumably you've got that on already...

Just so we're clear - since the term "microstutter" is now misused 90% of the time - are you talking about discernible pauses? If you can actually see it stall for a fraction of a second, that's just regular stuttering.
 
It happens with all my OC's off.

As to the difference between stutter and microstutter, I might be using the term wrong. It seems for a fraction of a second that it just doesn't put up any frames, and my FPS drops drastically at that time.
 
Microstutter is commonly used for the kind of stutter you get between frames in SLI/Crossfire configurations, I think you're getting something closer to pauses in the frame rate, I'd avoid using the term microstutter it may just confuse some people.
 
are you absolutely sure sli was enabled on your amd setup?

Tried older drivers? What about the c1 option in the bios.
