my specs r in my sig

the problem i have is that during games my hdd clicks then the hdd light stays on and my comp freezes, any ideas?? i was thinking maybe it's a power issue but i'm not sure
 
Your HD may be going bad. That would explain the clicks and the extended HD activity as Windows tries to write the page file to bad areas of the disk. Run a thorough scandisk to check the integrity of the drive.


Check your event viewer to see what Windows is reporting as the error. Chances are you will find the culprit listed in there.

Also, make sure that you have the latest drivers for everything in your box. MB, VID, Sound, etc...

Check for patches in all your games.

If you have another PS lying around, I would suggest swapping it into the box to make sure that your PS isn't failing and causing this issue.

run a virus scan, adaware, spybot, etc to check for rouge programs running on your box that may be interfering with your comps ability to do normal oporations.

might be bad hdd. might not. ive heard that if you dump too much stuff off one psu then you get power fluctuations in the rails. just use a multimeter on a molex connector to see if thats whats going on. should be less than half a volt of fluctuation when idle or mid load if ok, more than a volt if really bad.

heard of one guy whose hdd was totally erased from that, not fried, just wiped.
 
i fixed the prob... i have a Y splitter going to my hdd and my video card.. i switched it so that the video card ahs power split with my cdrom drive and my two hdd's are on there own power line, no more problems.... figured when i play games the graphics card needs more power thus killing my hdd
 
or it puts majordomo flux on the current. a quick filter would fix that... wire a variable resistor and a variable capacitor in parallel, adjust until your problem goes away.
