O.k.., so I origianlly thought that this was an XP-x64 issue... but after putting regular XP on my computer, that pretty much went out the window.
Here is what is happening... if I overclock my 7900GS with the nvidia control panel (after coolbits is enabled)... if I overclock the memory at all, the screen will get corrupted... from 660, I can only go to 720 with coolbits... and even then, a few jacked up pixels show up on the screen.. but it passes the test... once I refresh the screen of move a different window over the places that have the jacked up pixels... they will fix themselves... and 3D programs run fine... no corruption or lock-ups or anything at all...
Now, here is where it gets weird... if I use ATI-tool... I can stick the RAM up past 800... if I try to do that with coolbits.. the screen gets really corrupted and I have to restart my computer...
But if I set it with ATI-tool.... it runs fine... no corruption at all in 2d or 3d.... can play for hours on end....
And, if I go into the nvidia control panel after setting the speed with ATI-tool.. it correctly identifies the speed at which it is set.
This happens with 91.47, 91.48, and 92.91 driver sets... I haven't tried any older driver sets...
I did try a much newer BIOS on my card, and that didn't help either.
Could it be something to do with the delta clock on the newer cards??? could that be screwing it up? I haven't tried changing the delta clock to 0 in the bios and then reflashing... my understanding is that the delta clock only affects the GPU clock and makes it run that many Mhz faster than the bios clock is set at... but even that doesn't make any sense... and I do know of some cards that come with the delta clock set to 0...
