I thought I had seen just about everything, but this has me stumped. I'm on my third IBM 21" CRT monitor. I first bought my IBM P275 in June of 2002 with a 3 yr warranty. It started having color problems June of last year, they replaced it no problem. Well the replacement started having focus problems, they replaced it 2 weeks ago, again no problem. They have been great, they overnighted me a replacement monitor with a prepaid return label.
So they sent me an http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=-840&langId=-1&partNumber=673560N&storeId=1 ]IBM C220P [/URL] since the P275 is discontinued.
But now this monitor has a problem I have never seen before. It actually has irregular vertical lines in the top center of the tube. Note this are not the standard Triniton wires. These were there from the beginning, I stupidly thought they would go away. Also the thing makes a great WONNNNGGG, sound starting up. What is that, the flyback transformer?
Just WTF is going on here? I've posted a picture, can anyone tell me what these lines are? Deguassing does not remove them, they are actually inside the tube, and do not move.
So they're shipping me a FOURTH monitor today. I'm damn glad I bought a monitor from a reputable company, but daaammmmnnn.
