At random times my Seagate SCSI HD will click off then spin right back up. This just started recently. It will do it 10 times in a row. Then not do it for days. Powering the whole system down then powering it back up seems to make it worse.

The drive is a 18gig 15K rpm drive on an Adaptec 39160.
Also have a Plextor PX-W1210S on the 2nd bus of the card
The system is dual 2800MPs on a gigabyte board
1.5gigs of ram
IDE DVD writer
4 IDE HDs for storage
Windows XP is installed on the seagate drive

I was hoping maybe someone here might have an idea as to whats wrong.

What power supply are you using? That could be delivering voltages out of spec and causing the drive to appear to fail before it's actually failed.

It was the PS. Got another True control 550.
I think Ill save up for something that will last a bit longer than Antec PSs.

Thank you for the help y'all
