Ok, I have vista x64 ultimate and win 7 x64 as a dual boot machie. I have fah mpich 6.22beta2 set up on both.in Everything was working somewhat fine. It'd crash every once in a while...no biggie..seemed to be a common problem. But I noticed that it'd stopped working, so I tried to start it up{have to del work and que.dat file). The console clicked for a sec then disappeared...ugh. So I opened a console and navigated to the folding folder...tried to start on the command line...nothing...nothing in event viewer...same thing after a reinstall with (-configonly)

then I boot into win 7 and get the same thing.

I didn't change anything except nvidia drivers, but it was working fine after I installed the drivers.

I did download the client again. Tried installing in a different folder. Permissions seem fine. Smpd is running, mpich2_smpd service is started. Didn't see anything in the log file either.

any guesses? I'm dumbfounded

Since some client expire today, you might have a expired client. Download the latest version and replace the executable file to fix this.

Thanks, the download page is not correct indeed so I'll email Vijay Pande to fix that. If you check the notes, it does say it expire on february 2nd, which happen to be today.

Yes I saw that it expired today but I also saw that the deadline was extended back in october so I though there was maybe something wrong with my computer. Looking on the folding forum it seems I wasn't the only one affected.

Yes, I emailed Vijay and it will be fixed shortly. They had a bunch of new versions released lately but not put on the official page yet.

Any word on this update yet? I just tried running 6.23 and got this problem. Thought my computer was failing again... Relieved to see others had the same problem.

I got tiggered by this today - set the clock back to get it kicked off.

I'm actually a bit annoyed because one of the boxen that was affected just got a clean install of everything on Saturday (windoze, etc)...

Le sigh...

Well, it's easily fixed. All you have to do is drop in the replacement .exe file.
