Weird CPU Temps

My setup is in my signature.
When I first set my comp up a few days ago I was getting a cpu temp of around 39-40C idle. Now it has been idling at 50-53C... I don't think that is right though. I just got done playing cs and coolmon said it was at 57C! I took the panel off my door and everything seems cool. My HSF isn't warm, the air is pretty cool. I just don't really no what is going on.

Hmmm... WTF?
I actually noticed that Coolmon started doing this after I had taken it off of my Startup List. I put it back on rebooted, went into BIOS. The CPU temp was 61C! I got into windows, Coolmon started up and now it is back to reading about 37C. My case temp is 36C. This is weird. I don't know what temp is right.

Errr, I just restarted again and now the Coolmon CPU reading is back at 53C

I am having a similar problem, my CPU's idle temp keeps changing between 40C-55C? Everytime I restart, I see a different temp! I used PC Alert and Motherboard monitor, and both give me the same stupid results!

Your monitoring program must be getting confused between your CPU temp sensor and your case/mobo temp sensor.

Coolmon uses MBM dll's. MBM might have a problem with your mobo.

Theres your problem. You're HS SHOULD be warm, if its not then thers an obvious indication that the heat from yoru CPU isnt going anywhere. Reseat your heatsink, and try again :)

use arctic silver 5 next time... its amazing how much that generic goop sucks sometimes... i dont use anything but as5.. when my friend got his new video card first thing i wanted to do with it was as5 it... get a new system in house.. as5.. retail or previously used(after dust busting) if its a custom build.. the white stuff goes where it belongs... in the trash
