Weird connectivity issues with my LAN cable and my 360

so my 360 is too far way from my router to run a retail LAN cable, and I don't have wireless g, so Live at 11mbps is kinda pointless. so I got a spool of CAT5 and made my own 150ft super lan cable and hooked it up to my router and tested it on my PC. works great. I plug it into the 360, the Live diagnostic runs, no network cable attached. I tried a different cable between my xbox and PC and it recognizes the cable then, so whats going on?? anybody know? thanks
