Weird characters printing from Acrobat Reader?

For some reason, only my computer has this problem and it drives me nuts. I don't know why it is doing it, as it used to work before, but now all it prints is nonsense. Weird characters come out instead of normal text and I don't know what to do.

I print from a network printer, and I am running Vista x64. Every other computer works fine (a desktop connected to the printer and 3 laptops). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Nonsense in what way? Are the letters substituted with the wrong letters, or are you getting many many many pages in a row with a few odd characters splattered upon them?

Also, are your print drivers Postscript or something else?
 
The normal font has been replaced by a differnet font, like wingdings or something with a bunch of weird charachters like boxes and upside down question marks.

About the print drivers, I dont know anything about Postscript, that could be it, how do I go about fixing that issue?
 
I don't really have enough information, but IF you are using postscript drivers, you may need to update them or you may need to adjust the settings to prevent font substitution (or both).
 
This exact same thing happens to me when I convert my OpenOffice .odt files to .doc and try to print them at my school with MS Office.

I know that doesn't help but I thought I would throw that out there.

In you case I'd think it would be enough to use "Select All", then change the font while on the school computer.
 
Thanks for the tip. To be honest I didn't spend to much time trying to fix it happened, I just assumed it had to do with them running a really old version of Office.
 
Later on I will check the printer drivers to see if there are any newer ones out there. What is weird is that it used to work fine, I probably downloaded an update that broke it and never knew until it was already broken for a while (I don't use .pdf's often, but it is super frustrating to have to log into a different computer each time I need to print one).
 
Wait a sec...it can't be the drivers for the printer, since they are installed only on the computer hooked up to the printer, all the others use the network to connect to it, and they all print fine.

Even over the network all the computers have their own drivers, even though it's generally installed automatically from the print server when mapping the printer to the clients. Whether your drivers are good or not, you still need to check your printing preferences to see if your local fonts are being replaced with device fonts.
