Hey all,

I'm hoping someone may just have a few of these cables sitting around collecting dust.. I am looking for 3x SFF-8470 Reverse Breakout cables.

I have an old 12disk chassis here with 3 SFF-8470 ports that I'd like to hook up to a couple of sata HBA's I have.. but it's almost impossible to find this cable any more and any place that I can find it it wants over $100 per cable! I'm trying to get some life out of the old chassis but over $300 isn't worth it... It used to have a 3ware 9550SXU-12 ML connected but these cards are complete garbage so I want to use the breakout + 2 x AOC-SAT2-MV8's instead..

So if anyone has some of these lying around I'd be very happy to give them a new loving home..

Thanks!

looks like ~33 bucks for a 0.5m cable or 40 bucks for a 1m cable.
I bought 2 SFF8087 (host) -> SFF8470 (target) from them and they were delivered quickly and worked. Quality seems fine. Not much more you can ask for. I did like that they were explicit about the host vs. target side - made it much more clear what was being ordered.

Specifically you want the ones that list (8470 - TARGET) and (SATA - HOST).

Wow.. Thanks. I hadn't found them so cheap. I guess I'll wait and see if anyone has any old ones lying around and otherwise will probably end up ordering from there. Cheers!

Care to explain why the 3ware cards are "garbage"?

I meant the 9550SXU is crap, not 3ware cards in general. Generally poor IOPS performance and the card blocks IO on the entire system when busy..

Sounds more like a driver issue to me, is this in Windows or what are you running?

Linux and also FreeBSD... tuned everything I could find, improved things but still was bad. I agree at the root it's probably a driver issue - but if the latest driver is shite and they aren't doing any updates, then the card is worthless..

I have about 700 of the suckers.....30cm long

Pay for postage from Australia and you can have 3 of them
