Weird - BIOS won't keep - can't overclock

CORSAIR Capacity 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Timing 5-5-5-18
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX GDDR3 SDRAM 512 MB
PSU: 500w
Vista 64-bit

I had overclocked to 3.2GHz and stable. Updated a graphics driver and discovered trouble. Had to Restore Windows a few times which led to some corruption. I went back to the original BIOS settings to get everything corrected. Done. Stable again.

Now I'm trying to get my OC back and although I can change the voltages, the FSB setting won't stick even though I'm in manual and it saves the settings.

Somehow the system is resetting itself to "Auto" for the FSB and Memory while booting up, even thought I am clearly (and repeadedly) saving settings with "Unlinked" .

Current BIOS default is FSB 1333. I keep saving it at 1600 but it goes back to 1333 on its own(?).

I can't figure out how this is happening when I'm doing exactly what I was doing when I originally OC'd.

Any ideas here??

Problem solved.

Tech support previously had me make a CD to update the bios. I installed it and ran it again. This corrected the problem.

I'm happy to say we're back and stable at 3.2GHz!

I take it back. Problem resurfaced. Can't be good to keep flashing the bios and updating again, right?

Your onboard battery might be dead if you actually use a switch to turn off the power to your computer.
