Hi,

This is a problem wich I had before, I'am using a M2N-e motherboard together with a x2 3800+, 2gig Kingston, 1950Pro. It al started last year every time I would boot the computer the time/date would be at 00:00:00 01/01/2006 so nothing to worry about right ;) after a while every time I would boot the computer al my settings were gone, all custom set timmings for mem/cpu and everything else.

So I figured it must be the CMOS batt being funky/empty/broken replaced it with a Duracell batt of the same voltage. So I all worked again correctly after the batt change, but since yesterday I started losing the correct time/date again and I'am affraid that it isn't going tot take long before all my settings are deleted on every boot.

So is this the Motherboard being faulty, again a faulty batt, or maybe a PSU problem?

Because I don't really have a clue why, and can't find any thing relevant through google :p

ps the pc is totataly switched of, meaning: powered off and the switch on the powerbrick (< correct english word?) also turned off, every component of the computer is in the powerbrick (psu/speakers/display/switch)

sounds like the EPROM on the bios is going out. check with your manuafacturer and see if you can order a new one. If not then leave the power brick turned on when PC is off. As long as you have voltage the bios should not reset. Or at least until you can replace your Mobo.

good luck

Hmm ok thx, but replacing it would be kind of hard right now, as it was bought in europe and the store where it's from are having extreme problems with handeling RMA requests the "proper" way, it now takes them like 2 weeks to even reply on a e-mail service has gone down there in the last 3 months. But it workes flawlesly when the power brick stays on.

I think I just wait a while before the shop processes RMA's normaly or I want a new motherboard

thx anyway for your help :)

you would not buy an eprom from the shop you bought the boad from you would buy it from the boards OEM (ASUS, MSI, gygabit, etc). EPROMS are like 5 bucks if you can find them and they pop out of the mobo pretty easy. or just buy a new MoBo.
