weird atx 4pin 12v issue?, help

im trying to get my new system going but am running into trouble. using a soltek 8kan2e-gr nforce 3 mobo with a 2800+ newcastle, 2x512 corsair value pc3200, and a gainward geforce3 ti200. i think i have everything setup right but when i hit the power button i get a beep and no video. and yes i have looked for beep codes but soltek doesn't have any on their site and no generic beep code lists on the web for my award bios were any help. the beep is long and goes off and on. i cleared the bios but it still beeps. if i disconnect the 4pin atx 12v line on the mobo and hit power i don't get any beeps at all but there is still no video. ps i tried with everything (drives etc.) plugged and unplugged--same either way. i appreciate any help thanks.
 
well don't i feel like an idiot. i tried running it with only one stick of ram before i posted but still got the beep then i switched the ram with only one bank filled and it worked, got boths sticks in and just switched places and it works fine now. i don't get it. no instructions that came with the mobo ram or anything said which config to put the ram in. oh well. delete this thread if you want. thanks
 
That's odd. What was the beep code, for future reference? Isn't RAM usually three short beeps?

....given what you just said, my bet is that you didn't have the memory fully seated in it's socket first time around. I've done it before....
