hi there all.. I'm trying to install Windows XP on an AMD 2000+, Gigabyte Via chipset board, MicronTech 256MB PC3200 Memory and an old Maxtor 10 GB hard drive.. During the windows install i get error: Unknown hard error and the installation stops at 13 minutes left :(.. I have tried many tweaks including the memtest v3.0(no errors, ran over 10 times), changing the dimm, changing memory with Kingston 512MB PC3200 CS2.5...but still same error at every install :(..

Do you think this a hard drive error? if no what else can cause this kinda error..

your feedback is highly appreciated.

it might be a hd drive prob i would put it in another computer (slave it) and format it and do tests to make sure it works ok

Or you can download the hard drive utility from the vendor to test out the drive.

Also, check to make sure that your cd is clean and undamaged.
