I've pretty much narrowed it down to just being an issue with the video card as this occurred under Vista x64 on a different system but with this same card.
What happens, during a game occasionally: My screen will freeze. No artifacts, sound continues, and my system appears to not be locked up (aside from the video). I can Alt+tab and Ctrl+Alt+Del and then re-enter the game and things work again and I'll get another 45min -1hr+ before it occurs again.
I've only noticed this happen on certain games. Single players like Mass Effect 1/2, Dragon Age, Fall Out 3, and Bioshock 1/2. I can play BF2/Project Reality for hours on end with no issues. Haven't played BC2 enough yet.
I don't think this is a driver issue as this has been occurring since the mid 170's series, and I'm fully updated now. I do not think this its OS related as it occurred under XP, Vista and 7. I do tend to think it's related to temperature. Are there any trusted applications compatible with Win7 x64 that would allow me to adjust fan speed or allow me to monitor temps during a game? Spec's in sig.
