i ran 3dmark03 just for the heck of it, like i always do. i usually get about 6900. the score came up this time showing 6300. so i restarted the program and ran it again and got 6923. wats the deal with the 6300 score. i didnt even restart my comp.

Congratulations...you've seen why this software is total bullshit. I would even call that a small variance compared to soem of my own systems.

Sure...why do you think most review sites don't use it anymore?

is there another program we can use that will give us accurate results?

Yes...games. Most of them have scripts to run benchmarks and record the results.

Ha, I've had it vary from 6500 to 5300...With the same programs running and everything. Weird? Or not.

i just did it 3 times

frist i got 4950 then 5250 then 3250

3dmark is the biggest pos benchmark tool to ever hit the market, sad how they make people pay for the 'pro' version....

in all honesty, i dont even know why people bother with these 'tools', since - to me at least - benchmarks mean crap, it's real world gaming that means most.

to each his own i suppose, i guess bragging rights (read 'dick measuring contest') matter to some people.

Or sometimes they cause paranoia for no reason. When I first ran 3dmark03 got a 3,500ish score, 3dmark01 gave me 9,900 and aquamark came up as 33,000ish. I did not remember offhand what good scores were, but they seemed low like I had seen higher in reviews.

Once confirmed, I am pissed "cause my system is not running right". I should be higher darn it. So I run Prime95 for a day. No issue. I defrag, run spyware check, and anti virus. All clean. Then I started looking at my video card settings and something occured to me. I had vertical synch on. I turn that off and rerun. 3dmark03 like 4,500ish, 3dmark01se around 13,500ish and aquamark stayed the same at 33,000ish.

I dug some more and found that my default AA and AF were at 2x. I changed them to application preference and presto. 3dmark03 5,900, 3dmark01 was like 15,900 and aquamark bumped up to 38,000ish.

I suppose it was good I ran them to get a feel for my system's performance. The numbers may not be exact, but the jumps were very dramtic as I have shown. I do know that I judged my specs and scores with others and I am in the range. However, seeing Troll's Layer running at 12 fps at some points was a little discouraging considering this is the system I will have for at least a year.

wow, i thought i was the only one w/ a fubar computer when i started getting mixed scores
on 3DMark01 i got from 9k to 14k w/ the same system, same set up, same speed
