So I was inspecting my cpu water block and noticed something weird on the top and top right, right under the rubber gasket, Is that corrosion? should i be worried? and if it is what should be the plan of action?

I found on my EK blocks that something very similar would happen the first time I ran them. Honestly I wasn't sure what it was and short of sending it to a lab and trying different reagents to determine the "corrosion" it's hard to tell what it actually is.

If I had to hazard a guess, it's probably the gasket itself being pinched, maybe the machining oil being carried away and separating even.

I would strip the block and wipe it away so that whatever products are undergoing reaction don't build up. At the same time, you see if it is indeed corrosion as at won't be wiping off as easily.

If it were my block, I'd just keep an eye on it - if it is a corrosion problem it will spread out and then you know to pull it apart and do something before it starts to plug up anything or affect performance. That size of a speck though, I wouldn't worry about that yet, as Chapeau said, it's probably just something left over from manufacturing.

Just checking it everyday now. Slightly less worried after reading the posts.
