My son is in Iraq and he can use a Webcam and talk to me for a couple of min. once in a while..I want to get one and do not know which one. Also what software to use? I will buy anything to see his face and hear his voice.

Thanks

Just go to WalMart and buy whatever is a good price. You don't need anything fancy. Make sure it is USB, and make sure you are running Windows XP so it installs a lot easier.

As for software, I dunno what the military has blocked, but I would imagine even Yahoo Messenger would work. It has fairly decent webcam capabilities built-in, and it's free.

The Logitech QuickCam Pro series seems to work pretty well.

I forgot to ask..microphone. or do I get headphone with a mic?

Thanks

Either one will work, but a headset is much better. That way the mic doesn't pick up the speakers a rebroadcast it as your own voice. It i pretty irritating to hear yourself talk in an echo when someone has their speakers up too loud.
