Web Idea, looking for suggestions

I have done some basic web page creation before, but that's the extent of my skills for now. I do a lot of cooking, and have had many people ask me for recipes and ideas. So, I thought it would be nice to set up a website that I could blog to occasionally, and also store my recipes and add recipes when I need to. I know I can do this simply by a list of links to download the recipe as a PDF file (which they are all stored in now). However, how hard would it be to set up some type of database on the website that would allow people to read my blog and search for recipes as well?

I'm looking for any type of ideas that would be within my skill level (beginner) that would let me store and add recipes, as well as have a simple blog. Searching for the recipes would be great as well.
 
Since this is an enthusiast forum I would recommend wordpress also but that would entail: getting a domain name - setting up a hosted account - setting up wordpress and customizing it. I hate to say it but for the beginner that just wants to post some info and doesn't want to have to mess with the work involved with wordpress FaceBook and other sites work great. It's easy enough to setup that even my Mom has a FaceBook account and you can customize it with Blogs/Pictures/Lists/etc..

I actually have four domain name slots, with three actual domain names in use, with sites active on them. Once I choose a name for this site, I'll be registering the name, and then looking to creating the content. My host is 1and1, and has been rock solid for me for the past two years.
 
register with blogger, they do all of the backend for you, you just blog :p
 
I'm revisiting this project as I hope to have some free time opening up soon. Thanks for the link to 1and1, however I notice the steps are referring to a Linux hosting package. I believe I can easily switch the package over to that, but mine is currently a Windows package. Is Wordpress compatibile with that, or would I be better off switching packages?
 
Wordpress's requirements are the same regardless of the OS. From a very high level perspective, backing up all of the Wordpress files and getting DB backups to restore onto the new environment should suffice. But do your homework ahead of time.
