Web Cam - recommend please

I want to get web cams for me and my daughters so I can see/talk to my grandkids. Any recommendation for Web Cams and apps to use?

I do not need perfectly smooth video or film like quality but do want a clean clear picture and good sound. My daughters also need it to be relatively easy to set up. Would like to keep costs under $40 each. Looking at some Microsoft models on Newegg, reviews are all over.

Any help much appreciated!
 
Good cams, terrible software and software support.

For instance, the original Logitech Orbit is no longer supported and does not have Vista drivers. Yes, you do need their software as many of their cams' functionality will not work without it, like auto-zooming, face-tracking, etc. All of which are big selling points as they are the only features which differentiate them from the competition.
