Ok, what exactly is the VTT voltage for? My system gets random warnings from my Winbond Hardware Doctor that the VTT voltage falls too low. These warnings last just fast enough to pop up the warning window and go away. So, erm, what exactly does the VTT juice go to? Is there need to upgrade my psu?

your Front Side Bus \ RAM and its not voltage being directly produced by the PSU
your mobo's Voltage Regulation Modual (VRM) supplies it
it in turn is supplied by your PSU however, and if the PSU is feeding the VRM fluctuating voltage its might be tthe issue

what is your config (everything drawing power)
and what make and model of PSU do you have?

So, it could be the motherboard and/or the psu. Considering the motherboard is a biostar, it might just be the problem. Ok, I have a 400 watt, piece of crap, powmax power supply. I did have a better brand psu, but it died (year ago) and I did not have the extra $ to put in a better psu. (still don't, unemployment sucks...) Also, I have noticed fluctuation on the -12v pops wellover to -13v or higher. This occurs during overclocking of the vid card.
Ok do you have a suggestion for a low cost but decent psu?
Ok, things drawing power: 1 TDK 16x10x40 cdrw, 1 Pioneer 16x dvd, 1 seagate barracuda drive, 1 sapphire 9600 256mb vid card, crative audigy 1, Win TV Tuner, Thermaltake smart fan2, 2 80mm fans, 1 120mm fans, 1 cheapo hard drive cooler (3x40mm fans)
Thats about it

just curious, what do u mean by "Also, I have noticed fluctuation on the". what happens when it "fluctuates"?

it means the -12v line spikes over -13v or more from read to read (like second to second) about once a minute or so. The spike is at least 3/4 volt.
and what should the standard VTT line read?
I have a bad feelong that the vid card may be dying too. (thus the spikes or fluctiations on the -12v line) I have since put the vid card back to stock and the -12v line does not spike over -13 anymore...)

where do u check these things? i would like to see how my new fortron blue storm 500 watt psu is doing.

get a monitoring program for your motherboard. Example: Motherboard monitor (also known as MBM)
Winbond HWdoctor is another ( for boards with the winbond chips on board)
Check your motherboard driver cd for similar programs.

and what should the standard VTT line read?

that would depend
VCore, VDD, VDDQ, VDDR, VDIMM

first question would be is it being accurately tracked by the mobo
and then the memory modual itself, and the specific mobo
Id suggest a thread about that question in the Oveclocking or memory forum

a far as the +12V rail fluctuating that mucjh
its not a good sign, the +13V isnt a definative value, for that youd need to calibrate with a multimeter, but software is good for relative values generally

its the negative 12v line not positive. I know its a software check - but a fluctuation of 3/4 volt or more really concerns me.

ahh I see said the blind man to his deaf wife as he stuck out his wooden leg to feel if it was raining :p

nevermind

-12V an unused rail, and with no load on it
it will act strange, its 100% safe to ignore it
happens to everyone
