Recently, a few on our folding team (and a few that are just helping out) have started collaborating on a way to track protein stats for F@H. See this thread for the gritty details.......

The general idea is to have each user run a service on their PC (similar to EMIII, and just as invisible) that tracks each WU you complete. The data for each WU would be gathered, alone with some basic CPU/RAM info and sent to a server. Then our server would compile stats of completed WU and the CPUs they were completed on... This would help with determining ppd on processors and provide better knowledge of which setups were best for which CPU... (Bear in mind, this is a broad description :) )

The reason for this thread? We need a name..... And in grand ole' [H]orde fashion, we turning to the [H[orde for help with the name!

So lets hear some suggestions! :D

First of all, great project - I have been following the deveopment thread for a few weeks now and I cant wait untill a release to try out. As for a name.. how about Protein Recon :D

 
Was thinking of "barbarian horde" or other warrior supply-hauling gear, and all I could come up with was:

Travois: the pre-wheel 'trailer' hauled by horses or dogs, used by the Plains Indian tribes.

Yurt: Portable dwelling used by the Central Asian nomads.

Of the two, someone here with a wicked sense of humor could make Y.U.R.T into a sensible acronym. Mangling the first would be a travesty... ;)

Hlogger --- aka [H]logger. Not much conflict with other names out there.

Plogger --- (for protein logger) but too many other search results on Google

Htracker --- too many other search results on Google

It should be something team-independent, I think... enhanced08, who pushed us over the edge in terms of getting it started, isn't a 33'er. I like YURT.

I agree. I dont want this to be tied in with any single team. YURT or PTRAK are the 2 I like.

I think FAHRT is more to the point & reduces the stupid factor.....but not to the point of being boring....

"fahrt" is the German verb for "to drive" conjugated in the second person plural. So "Ihr fahrt" means "You (y'all) drive". It makes sense, because the users will drive the submissions to the database. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

 
Are we getting close to making a decision? The code is becoming ready, and I don't want to rename the everything more than once.

Any chance of getting someone to make an icon?
