Yeah I gotta say the EVGA bucks are pretty tempting. I almost want to switch to get them, and then come back to [H] because I want a new video card. lol
 
It's hard to fight the $$$ factor. Nothing we can do about that.

Nah, I think it goes to show more for use that we can hit our numbers without incentives

That means more to me than any money they could give you

plus, when you use the bucks you have to buy new, its still cheaper to buy used and we keep the money in our family

I would have to agree. The [H]orde is filled with love, not just people looking to save some cash. I know not everyone on the EVGA team is doing it for the money, but I have to wonder how many of them actually are.

I'm surprised he didn't even bother to change his name...

True, nothing we can do to combat that incentive directly, especially in this economy. The best we can do is keep on doing what we're doing and help one another to the best to our abilities and knowledge. We can provide similar incentives in the FS subforum with bundled deals on parts to folders, as some have already done in the past. I find these kinds of incentives much more compelling than whatever EVGA is offering, because their offer applies only to products they sell, nothing else.
 
My $0.02 - As long as they're doing the cash for folding, the community should consider them the same as Google, a corporate folding team separate from the teams that do it for the pure science and friendly competition! If/when eVGA passes us, it won't matter a damn bit to me, as I'll still be doing it for the science, and doing for the [H]ardest non compensated team around!

That said, if eVGA bring new folders with bribes, good for the science.
 
I looked at it after reading this thread a few days ago and he won't get anything; the incentive isn't really there. What, he may get like $20 bucks or something at this point in the eligibility and the year?

If someone wants to leave for a measly $20 bucks, I say let 'em...they aren't a true [H]ard folder to begin with. HOO-RA!
 
If anyone wants to go and Fold for a team because they offer some monetary incentive or gives away prizes, so be it. It's not the reason I choose to Fold for or obviously anyone who Folds for this team. It actually costs money to do, but then I was brought up and raised to understand that's what helping others was about. It's in the giving without expecting a return.
