We are using the new WDS for 2008 (we were using mixed mode RIS prior to this)
I have created an XP image and everything works great.
I currently have my sysprep.inf file setup just the way we want it, and from what I have read I have already setup the ComputerName=, and JoinDomain=, as %COMPUTERNAME% and %DOMAINNAME% respectivly.
The problem is, how do we get WDS to prompt us for the computer name and domain name prior to imaging much the same way the old RIS "OS Chooser" allowed us to type this in prior to starting the install.
I have read and read and all I can seem to find is either work arounds using ugly scripts, or pre-staging the computers (which we don't want to do).
Has anyone gotten this to work when booting into the boot image inside WDS prior to starting the image process to have it prompt you for what you want to call this specific machine?
The above %computername% I was told should be used so you can setup the WDS XML file to inject into the sysprep.inf later during the image process.
