I'm getting very bad results from my newly installed RAID 0 configuration. 25MB/s avg read. I'm using the following:

2x Western Digital 36GB Raptor's in RAID 0
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
A64 3200+ Winny
2GB (4x512) Corsair TWINX-3200XLPRO

I have 4 onboard SATA connectors and I'm using number 1 and 2 for the raptors. I believe I have the raid setup correctly and made sure I installed WinXP w/the raid drivers on a floppy. But HDTach and SiSoft Sandra are reporting 8.9ms access with 25.3MB/s avg read, 57.1MB/s burst, and 60% cpu utilization. Is there any reason why I'm getting such poor results? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

Dma off? Check Ctrl panel -> system -> device manager -> ide/atapi -> (name of controller) -> properties -> advanced and see if they're on DMA or PIO mode.

Wow that was it, thanks! I went in and saw that it was PIO so I changed to DMA, restarted and reran HDTach with these results:

8.9ms
2% cpu
68.6MB/s avg read
199.8MB/s burst

Thanks again :)
