I don't know what it is but I have lost all faith in Western Digital...

I had 7 wd2000 sata hard drives replaced by WD because they were dropping from the raid array. They replaced them with wd2500 Raid edition drives in November.

Life was wonderful untill last night... channel 6 failed and thus a restore was started on the array bringing in the global spare.

5am - channel 0 fail leaving the array critical

8:30am - channel 2 failed leaving the array OFFLINE

I know for a fact this is not a heat issue. I am using a LanLi server case and there is excellent airflow.

What are the freaking ODDS I loose 3 hard drives within a 24 hour period?!!

Anyone else fed up with Western Digital???!!
 
I am using a broadcom raidcore controller.

I thought these were supposed to be rock solid.
 
I believe you, but there are always a few bad apples. I find it hard to believe that you'd have that many hard drives fail on you all at once (though anything is possible). See if there are any updated drivers available. And try attaching each drive individually, not in a RAID, to see if they work that way. Are these the only drives you've tried on that controller, can you try some others like a Seagate perhaps?
 
I have not tried any other Hard drives on this controller. They were all working fine since November.

I am using an PC Power And Cooling 525Watt EPS power supply on a DH800 dual Xeon MB.
 
You know... It was the card I think..

I replaced it with a different Raidcore card and the stability is greatly improved..

Now when I loose a drive, the system doesn't stall and crash.. I actually get a report and raidcore begins its restore process.

You know, that many drives in RAID 0 is just asking for trouble, and I don't care who makes the hard drives. You're playing with fire, buddy.
 
I run a 6 disk RAID5 with a dedicated spare drive and a distributed spare in the array also.

I would never run a RAID0 on this $350 card.
