Hello all, I just baught a new HD, a 160 gig Western Digital Caviar Serial ATA. To go with it I also baught Windows XP Home Edition OEM.
I formated and partitionned the drive in NTFS, installed Windows and everything went great for about 2 days. The second day while I was watching a movie on my computer, it completely froze and the re-started.
When it re-started, and every time i re-started after that , in the bios at startup, it gives the following warning :
"Third Master Hard Drive: S.M.A.R.T. Status Bad, Backup And Replace. Press F1 To Resume"
I googled for hours and hours not finding any precice info on what could of happen to do this or what I could do to fix it or even if it was fixable, and then I remembered [Hard] and its very experienced members that helped me several time so here I am.
Since that happened, I tried to use the Windows cd to repair Windows, I tried to format and re-install Windows and nothing work, the setup starts its function and then freezes.
I really have no clue what to do next, If anyone of you know what it is I can do to fix the problem please let me know how, I dont know much about HD's so I am really stuck.
I've been saving up for that HD for a while, and now that I get it, it screws up on me or I am just too ignorent to use it lol.
I appreciate very much any help you can give me and I thank you so very much in advance for your help.
