Hope this is ok to ask here...........If I sell someone a brand new hd I have , do they need the original receipt for the warranty?? I have a WD Caviar Black not registered and it states the warranty is good till 2016...... does a buyer need the original receipt? Not sure I can locate it.

Nope, from my experiences in the past with WD. Receipt for WD usually only helps you if the warranty date is somehow off a few months/year from the actually purchase date.
 
I've never ever had WD ask me for a receipt. They just verify the S/N and that's pretty much it. (your mileage may vary etc etc)
