Bought a pair to raid and I found two things odd. The PCB looks different then pictures of the 4TB version, I have the 3TB.
There is a black square piece of tape on both PCB covering some traces, never seen that before on any drive.
Also the firmware is 80.00A80, that is firmware for Red's.
SE's I've seen in tests have 01.01A01.
More odd the big bitch with this line is they did not have locking connectors, both of mine do which should not be.

Benches seems fairly spot on though.

Going by the test they beat my WD5000HHTZ but it's also 41% full.
Still not too shabby.

HDtune they are a bit on the slower side and closer to red's.

Check out the cache burst, damn!
Access seems a bit high though for 7200.

If you have this drive line could check the firmware, I am curious.
Thanks

That is more than double what SATAIII supports so for the burst you are not accessing the disk at all. This would have to be some type of OS cache performance.

The Marvell controller is hardware raid so it's probably using system memory for that burst.

This is what a pair of VR's look like in raid1 on the Intel controller. Severe burst.
