WD Red drives?

Temps in my Norco 4224 for various drives below. Positioning in the case likely effects the results though.

Ooohh. I just looked it up and I LIKE this case.

I don't have a rack, but I might get one some day.

My array currently only uses 6 drives though. I plan on upgrading it to 8 in the not to distant future, but I highly doubt I'll EVER reach 24... That, and it's $399 price tag put it over the top for me.

If there were something like this, in maybe the $200 range, for an array of maybe 12 drives, I'd be all in though.

I'm in the middle of building up a 24-drive server with 3TB Reds, so we'll see how they work for me. I have the first 12 (bought over the course of a couple months, 2-pass badblocks) up and running, only had one DOA in those and the heads wouldn't sync up with the platter on that one. All the others have been running smoothly for the past month or so, and am acquiring the next set of 12 steadily. I'll keep an eye on them, but for now they're running well.

Bought three 2TB Reds for my server for storage and VMs.
Going on over a month of 24/7 usage with zero issues so far.

Would greatly recommend them, so far they haven't skipped a beat with quite a lot of usage.

I now have 120+ 3TB WD REDs at home. Overall I'm very happy with them. I have too many DOAs but I blame the horrible packaging by some shops.

I thought I would also post a good reply since people usually will not post when things run good. I have 4 3TB REDs running in RAID 5. They have been running 24/7. I am in Germany and got 2 from Alternate and the other 2 from Mindfactory and the packaging from both companies is excellent.

I have a 2Tb red that shows H & T errors with ZFS, any ideas?

S:0 H:77 T:277

Only one out of 12 that show these signs.

Is there any Tool which I can use to completely disable the drives NCQ???
This NCQ thing is slowing my drives a lot!

How do you know it is the fault of NCQ? It is basically inactive if you configure your OS to only queue up a single command at once.

Since I have an Areca controller with 6 2TB Red's and with NCQ I get speeds of 100MB/s and with spikes...
Without NCQ I get around 600MB/s constant.

The thing is I have other Disks on the system and I would like to have NCQ for those and disable for the RED's so I guess I would have to disable it in the firmware or something with some tool.
(Obviously on different Partitions/RaidSets)
