Hello all, I need to start a data storage system for my workplace. This does not need to be big or complicated, looking at 4-6 people to store primarily word, excel and pdf files. After some research I think the EX4 should fit the bill. My plan is to start with (2) 2TB WD red nas drives and use raid 1.

An added bonus is that the EX4 works with Dropbox so we can edit or create files, throw them in Dropbox and have them saved on the EX4.

Any thoughts on this plan?

I'll be adding this NAS to this setup

Hey guys thanks for the responses. I know that raid is not a true form of backup but coming from no form of data retention this is something. The plan is to use this nas as a centralized location for files to be stored as well as on dropbox which this device plays well with. Also weekly I'll have the nas backup to an external drive. We don't really have a security policy in place, if anything this will be a start, right now everyone just keeps whatever files that they use on their work laptops, most without any kind of backup at all.
