WD drive problem

i bought these two WD drives when they were on sale, both 160gb, hooked them up to my pci controller. one of them works fine, the other one comes up about every month as file system: RAW.

fortuntly i can recover all the files with a file recovery program but is there any way to fix this drive? or should i just RMA it?
 
run the WD Lifeguard tool on it

and review > Corruption 101

since its just the one drive that is corrupting its safe to assume shared root problems arent to blame
(ie memory, the PSU itself)
but you coild have a poor power connection, a bad data cable ect, the idea is to eliminate the other possible causes by swapping out before blaming the drive itself ;)
 
Unhook all drives except the one you want to work on. Boot to fdisk delete all partitions, reset a single active partition. Reboot and format C:\ This may clean the corruption.
