I've had a WD 250 GB HDD in my draw for a few months I bought and never got around to using. Went to use it today and it wont even spin up.

I bought it OEM. Just wondering what WD's Advanced Replacement RMA process is like? Anyone used it? Never RMA'd a drive with them before? How long does it usually take? Likelyhood they'll charge me for the drive being the Advanced Replacement program?

Cheers

I've done quite a few Advanced RMAs with WD. Basically they advance ship you a replacement drive with a hold on your CC. You then have a certain amount of time to send back the defective drive or your CC will be charged.

30 days from rma issue after that they charge you. you will see the drive in 2 to 3 days just hada the same issue you stated.

Yeah they were really good about Advance RMA'ing my 40GB drive. Got it in about 2 days. I think they shipped it 2nd day air.

Im in the middle of an Advance RMA wthem..NOT very happy right now  . May 25th setup the RMA for one of my drives (need to do both tho)...Still not here as of last Friday..Got email yesterday (i think) saying that "we're sorry...but there's been a delay" etc..So, Im out $60 til they decide to do something...GREAT QUICK ADVANCE there.. 8 days for something that should have really taken maybe 2 days tops (I mean come on - Irvine > Santa Monica isn't that far)

I'm thinking of firing an email back seeing if a squeaky wheel will get some grease ;)..IE their RMA page states that they *may* substitute drives of equal or better specs due to stock..perhaps i could get them instead of sending an SE 80GB ATA, to send the SATA version..perhaps a 120GB drive even? :)

*bah* Nevermind..just checked my status page..they shipped it out today :p Must have just been updated, as the tracking # doesn't show anything yet on UPS.
