I bought a 6TB WD Black from Amazon a month ago and its a beast. I have 4TB free :)

I was checking the other day and anyone can pick a used one up for $141.58 with prime shippping

Is this a bad choice? Should i consider picking it up and using it for a backup? Should I stay away? I havent bought a used drive, and my experience is limited to Western Digital only with 2Blacks and 2Blues.

Why chance used when the WD 8TB is $180 every other week and sometimes as low as $150?

Create a Amazon List called Storage and slap as many drives that you might like in it and follow the price trends and see which ones pop up on deals the most.

Because people want something faster than the NAS drives that get shucked out of those 8tb externals.
