hi

i have 200GB WD caviar SE SATA hard drive. after i format and put the partition (NTFS) why does windows xp pro recognise it only 127GB, where is the rest 73GB gone ?
- well, it should has around 190GB or 180GB, after i format and give the partition. -

did any of you experince it before ? how to solve the problem and make the drive about around 190GB or 180GB

my thought was
does it because my windows xp run without SP 1 ?
or does it WD technical problem ?

regards
andi

If I remember correctly you need to have at least Windows XP SP1 for it to recognize the rest of the drive. I could be wrong.

SP2 has been out for almost 2 years now. There shouldn't be any XP discs floating around that haven't been slipstreamed up to SP2 by now. Use Autostreamer and make a new disc before you try to install XP.
