I was wondering if anybody has gotten this thing yet, and how it compares to the 750gb caviar in performance. The caviar as shown HERE rivals the Raptor in some of the benchmarks. Is this 1TB beast the same or different?

No idea, but the 1TB drive is a green drive, designed to use less power.
AFAIK, there are no reviews out there.
I'd keep an eye on storagereview.com, silentpcreview.com and the SPCR sister site, which is dedicated to power saving systems and peripherals (sorry, don't remember the name).
I suspect that after long periods of light use, it's slower, but if you're doing a lot of reading/writing, performance ramps up to similar levels.
I'd wait until their are reviews, if performance is important.
